Mission and History

"To Serve the REALTOR® Profession, Protect Private Property Rights, and Promote the Professional Marketing of Real Estate."

The Lubbock Association of REALTORS® (LAR) is part of the family of REALTOR® associations, the Texas Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS®.  Only members of the Lubbock Association of REALTORS® can use the trademark REALTOR®.

We provide information, legislative advocacy, affiliations, networking, community involvement and educational opportunities as well as optional services like the Multiple Listing Service, and the security of Supra key pads and key boxes.

Our Focus:

  • To aggressively provide the tools and resources for our members to succeed.
  • To further our mission, the LAR has active Government Affairs, Education, Membership, MLS, and Communications Departments. Each of these departments is integral to the programs, events, and services that LAR members depend on.

The Lubbock Association of REALTORS® has a detailed history that dates back to 1926, when the association made it's application to be a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, then called the National Association of Real Estate Boards, as the Lubbock Real Estate Board.  The association's name was changed to the Lubbock Board of REALTORS®, Inc. in 1957, and changed to the Lubbock Association of REALTORS®, Inc. in 1992.

The LAR has the distinction of creating the first Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in the state of Texas, a model that is now used across the state.  Over the years, the name of the Association has changed, as well as its location office. What hasn't changed is that the LAR continues to offer stellar customer service to its ever-growing membership base.
